Darren Criss on Fame in April 2010
Interviewer - How has fame been to you since AVPM came out?
Darren - Fame??? Oh um…well…uh… I don’t know…I mean… it’s been rather, uh, it’s been very flattering, but I think…I don’t really consider it fame.
Fame to me is more like, when random people totally know who you are.
It’s one thing if you and I are walking down the street and we saw, like I don’t know, Megan Fox, okay? I don’t know her entire body of work, but I’d be like, oh you’re Megan Fox, but I don’t really know your work. If someone comes up to me and says “hey I saw your show”, it is like we’re both in on this private joke. It’s this thing that is very grassroots and that we both understand. So it’s immediately very gratifying and….it’s like we are both all in on this little secret. And so, I don’t consider it, um..celebrity by any means……You either know the show or you don’t….so it’s very encouraging I should say. Um, that everybody is so sweet. But by no means, has it been like a celebrity rocket, or anything like that.
Interviewer - Well, you’re a celebrity to us, if that means anything.
Darren - That’s very kind of you. But, I assure you that I am not a celebrity at all.
